Moved my business to Agawam, MA

NESIC - Sun, 12/19/2010 - 14:47
I've done quite a bit of sandblasting work for some members on this site. I'd like to anyone interested know that we have moved from Ludlow, MA to Agawam, 01001.

If this violates any forum rules, simply delete, i'll understand.

Agawam, MA 01001

I made a website IndSandblasting.com to help those understand the services we offer.

If you stop in, let me know your from Nasioc, your price will be reduced dramatically. I'd much rather see a Subaru then the usual old Domestics cars i'm used to seeing re-done.

If you'd like to become a friend on facebook, i'd greatly appropriate it. (Industrial Sandblasting)

Alignment near Framingham?

NESIC - Sat, 12/18/2010 - 11:54
I'm wondering if anyone could recommend an alignment shop either in Framingham or the surrounding towns (that is open today)? I checked google reviews, but nothing looks too promising.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Anyone want to drive in SnoDrift TSD?

NESIC - Fri, 12/17/2010 - 17:32
Id really like to make it out to this, but its a long ways. Google puts it at 11.5hrs through canada, to go around is 13 out of Springfield MA. I want to get the experience co-driving before my first rally the following weekend. The TSD is Jan 8th. My plan is to leave around 8-10pm on the 7th, and likely stay over after the tsd rally.... Hoping someone is down. Id split all expenses. The event is only $65 and its ~150miles iirc.

from wiki

Quote: Regularity rallying, also known as TSD rallying (Time Speed Distance), is a form of motor sport usually conducted on public roads but sometimes including off-road and track sections. The object of these rallies is to maintain precise times and precise average speeds on various segments of a predefined route. Each team usually consists of an amateur driver and navigator. Teams usually start a regularity rally at fixed intervals creating a field that is spread along the route. It is supposed to be a very good event for winter driving.

Finally got the 2011 WRX

NESIC - Fri, 12/17/2010 - 13:17
So my wife finally received her 2011 WRX on Sunday from City Side Subaru in Belmont. Let me just say that these guys are GREAT! We actually had a deal on the table at Patrick and took our deposit back because they insisted they couldnt find my wife the dark grey limited model. So the car is great, we opted for the Leather seats which are awesome. The rims that come on the limited are very nice, they actually look exactly like the STI rims just with a Subaru logo in the middle and not the STI logo, maybe they are the same i have no idea.

The car is def. fast, but its a different type of fast. In my STI when i hit the gas its almost like it feels rough. But in the WRX it feels like the power band is much smoother and because of that you dont get jerked around as you would in my STI. The car is amazing, and im trying to convince her to go to a Worcester Meet but we just need a sitter. Im planning on posting pics tonight with both of our cars together!

Mass rules on engine swaps? Anyone know?

NESIC - Thu, 12/16/2010 - 20:39
Hi guys,

Anyone know what the Massachusetts rules are on engine swaps. I'm more concerned with the inspections.

By engine swaps I mean stuffing a big engine like say an LS1 motor into say an RX7, Miata or 240sx and such . I have been itching to build something like this for a while. (drooling over the thought of building a late model RX7 with a huge cammed LS motor.... sounding like the beginning of Van Halens Hot for teacher :p )

But with Mass being so screwed up when it comes to things like this not sure if this is possible in our crappy state....just wondering if anyone has any info.

Thanks

Jay

Good mechanic on the south shore?

NESIC - Thu, 12/16/2010 - 19:32
My sloppy old '02 bugeye Wrx is rife with the stank of unleaded, her sagging suspension needs a bit of love, and the tape covering the cel is peeling off. Don't need a high end tuning shop for this mostly stock scooby, as she is getting a little long in the tooth, yet still has some good years left. Need a good mechanic on the south shore to put her back in order. Want to avoid the Planet, so am looking for other options.

Thanks,

J.S.

Cobb AP custom tuner recommendation

NESIC - Thu, 12/16/2010 - 12:13
Background: I've got a 2009 WRX with EL header, uppipe, catted DP, catback and TMIC, running on Perrin stage 2 OTS map

Now I'm looking to get a custom tune on my Cobb AP, and am wondering which tuner to use. Here is my list so far:

1) DSG
2) Tuning Alliance (only officially listed Cobb dealer/tuner in MA)
3) BrenTuning (used by Kaizen Tuning)

Your help is much appreciated on which one I should go with and also may other suggestions as well.

Please, no suggestions on going to OpenECU as I prefer to keep the Cobb AP for the ability to switch maps.

Thank you much in advance,

Tony

Wanted to introduce myself

NESIC - Wed, 12/15/2010 - 11:00
Hey Guys,

Long time Club RSX Member (know there are a few of you here)

So Last weekend I ended up getting an 06 Impreza with 40k miles for $8000 which I was not expecting.

A little back story:

I used to own an 02 RSX Base that I got some years ago there was a problem with my VTEC that no one could figure out. The Code it was throwing put my car into "safe mode" (no VTEC and engine would not go above 4k RPM and would stall when ever you came to a stop)

I took it to my local shop they replaced the VTEC solenoid (which is what I thought it was aswell) car ran fine for a week then the problem came back. Then I took it back and they found an Acura service bulletin which said when you replace this solenoid you need to run a software update on the ECM but it can only be done at an Acura dealership (50 miles away from me)

I got the car towed their to run the update it was done and the car again ran fine for 2 days then the issue came back. I took it again to Acura and they said they could try replacing another value in the engine but they could not promise me that would even fix the issue.

So I put about $385 into the car to replace the first solenoid and run the software update. Then they wanted me to replace another Valve for $350 and could not promise that would even fix it.

On top of that it has other repairs that needed to be done plus new tires so when all was said and done it would be about $2500 to fix.

So with repairs needed at around where they couldn't even promise that my VTEC issue would be fixed I decided to get a newer car.

I didn't have a lot of money to spend on a car my wife isn't working right now because she is in grad school and she has a disability (Fibromyalgia and Sciatica) so she really has to focus on one thing at a time (IE not killing herself at a job and then trying to also focus on school).

Also we bought a condo about 2 years ago so money is tight.

When looking for a car I really wanted something AWD for the winter. I would have loved to get a WRX but that just wasn't in the finances.

So I ended up getting the 06 Impreza for $8000 after the trade of my RSX. It only has 40k miles on it so I think I got a decent deal

Holiday traveling

NESIC - Tue, 12/14/2010 - 23:23
Were going to Pennsylvania for Christmas. I get to make the drive on Christmas Eve. Im going to assume traffic is going to blow. Im assuming, as always, getting through NY is going to be the crappiest part.

Any tips on routes and what routes I should take? Seems like avoiding the GW Bridge is needless to say.

I think Im going to leave MA at 3-4am, which means Id get through NYC around 7 or so. That seem like a good idea?

Hartford CT area: Anybody w/ an ALK wanna go for a ride?

NESIC - Tue, 12/14/2010 - 03:18
Anybody in the Connecticut, Hartford area willing to bend some laws around their neighborhood in exchange for a cool beverage?

Considering buying a comfort or sport Whiteline ALK but want to know how much NVH gets transmitted to the cabin. Searched the forums and found 50/50 opinions on comfort vs. sport versions. I can only definitively say that they are both more applicable for DD use than both the Perrin PSRS sport and comfort versions. (Have a PSRS and can feel road expansion joints in my fillings. Found lots of talk about that online... Having said that, the corners and transitions extremely well with the PSRS)

Who has shipped a car?

NESIC - Tue, 12/14/2010 - 01:47
Hey guys, can anyone give me some tips on shipping a car? I've looked up a few quotes online and the prices seem fair, for uncovered shipment. Does anyone have recommendations for a certain company to use? Whether to go covered or uncovered? Has anyone ever gotten an incredible deal? I'm only looking to ship about half of the length of the east coast.
