Thu, 08/12/2010 - 12:43
Sorry guys, Google let me down today.

Does anyone know if I can receive plates by mail if I send in all the paperwork? Or do I need to show up in person to complete registration?

I need comb. plates for a used truck, its from CT and has valid emissions already.

thanks!

Renting a Corvette

Thu, 08/12/2010 - 11:32
Does anyone know where I can rent a Corvette? I need an extra car this weekend and for some reason I have been on a C6 Corvette kick recently. I want to get it out of my system before one ends up in my driveway. :)

Googling brings up a bunch of sketchy "exotic car rental" sites I don't trust. I figure there must be a local place in eastern mass that does this.

CT: 8/1/2010, windshield registration stickers no longer needed

Thu, 08/12/2010 - 08:29
A fellow CT Subie member found this: http://www.ct.gov/dmv/cwp/view.asp?Q=463030&A=810

In connecticut beginning August 1, 2010, you may now remove the registration sticker from your windshield. It is no longer required.

You must still however carry your registration paper (and insurance card) in the car at all times that it is on the road/being driven.

Now you can effectively clean-up your windshield.

Mass People, please call the governor

Wed, 08/11/2010 - 23:02
Phone: 617.725.4005
888.870.7770 (in state)

The bill is HB4871

It has passed the house and senate now and is up to the Governor.

This is the SEMA bill to end the nightmare for some of us with kit or custom cars.

http://www.ffcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=254085
There's the FFR Cobra forum thread on this.

If you're afraid to call, email your support. Phone calls are worth 10 times what email is worth. They pretty much want your name and the town you're from. You can simply say you want the governor to support HB4871.

Some background.....the EPA has had a rule in effect for a very long time that no state had ever enforced and a couple years ago, Mass adopted it. No other state....just Mass. The rule is that any kit car MUST have the engine, tranny, rear end from one car and have all emission stuff from that year car in tact including stickers and new evap tank etc. Cars already on the road and titled (like mine) are not exempt, so since my engine and tranny have long since been replaced (my donor had 150k miles on it), I would literally have to remove the engine and find a donor car and put a donor engine in. Guys with crate engines are absolutely screwed. Most are running with big R stickers because it's at inspection that they get snagged. the sema bill gets rid of this mess. Please call.

thanks to anyone who calls.

Fixing a chipped windshield?

Wed, 08/11/2010 - 15:12
Two of my windshields have rock chips in them. I recall that glass shops can inject a resin into the chips to hide them and prevent them from spreading, anyone have more info or experience? Is this covered by insurance? One of the chips is pretty small but in my direct field of view so I'd like to address it.

Thanks.

Sold my WRX what should I get for the new DD

Tue, 08/10/2010 - 13:40

SO after 5 years and almost 80000 miles I sold my 02 WRX. Lot of memories so I'm kind sad to see it go. But having the STi I want something comfy to drive every day so now I’m looking for a used low miles car to use a daily driver. 2005-2006 is what I have been looking at but are there any other cars out there that people would recommend?

Boston/Providence Tint

Mon, 08/09/2010 - 10:00
Hi guys,

Looking for a tint shop that is either local to Boston (my office) or Providence (home) to do a window tint on a sedan.

I am looking to do front 2 windows, rear 2 windows, and the back rear glass.

I was thinking 35% all around

1) Recommendations and thoughts on the %?

2) Recommendation on window tint shops?

3) Thoughts on prices that is reasonable to pay for this?

Appreciate the help.

SCCV Autocross Saturday August 14th Devil's bowl.

Mon, 08/09/2010 - 09:48
It took a while but we have a place to have an autocross.
SATURDAY August 14th at Devil's Bowl raceway in West Haven VT.

Devil's bowl has been recently paved(late April) and is traditionally a 1/2 mile oval track. We will be running this as a normal autocross, this means we'll setup the course using the pavement we have available. So to be clear this isn't a high speed lapping session.
Please take a moment to register online, it saves a tremendous amount of time.
http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.c...24B864C41ACFFD

Rain or shine. Competitor check in starts at 9am. Since it's a longer haul to this site compared to others, we've moved registration and tech back an hour, and we will be going later into the day as a result.

Hope to see you there.

Fireplace wood?

Sun, 08/08/2010 - 20:11
Finally bought a nice house with a wood-burning fireplace.

Does anybody have any advise as far as sourcing firewood or companies who sell/deliver cords of wood cut to fireplace length?

Am I better off filling my truck from a free "tree on the ground" listing on craigslist? From my knowledge, a decent size tree only gives about 3/4 of a cord whereas a lot of places charge around 175 for a full cord cut and delivered.

Thanks

MA Registration/Insurance question

Sat, 08/07/2010 - 21:34
So Im taking my bugeye off the road for the winter. At the same time Im buying a beater.

As far as I know, I should be able to transfer my registration over to the beater right? Keeping my plates and all?

But what about insurance? Does my bugeye have to be insured while its garaged? I wouldnt want something to happen over the winter and be out a car..

And transfering the registration back to teh bugeye in the spring..do I just give them my title?
